Our Mission and Goals The Cresskill Cooperative Preschool was conceived in 1984.
We desired to establish a local “cooperative” preschool where
children of Cresskill and neighboring towns would be able to
attend school while their parents would be able to meet and
interact with other parents and children in the community.
When participating in a “Cooperative” preschool, parents
assist both the teacher and teacher’s assistant, and can see
first-hand what experiences their children are involved in
on a daily basis. The parents are constantly in touch with
teachers, so if there are any concerns, they can be easily
addressed. This cooperative experience helps facilitate
gradual transition from home to the larger outside world.
What are my responsibilities as a “Coop” parent? Parents are scheduled on a rotating basis throughout the school year. In addition
to having fun participating in the children’s play time, parents help with art projects, writing experiences, snacks, shoe tying and/or hand washing.
